Located in the foothills of the Green Mountains, in a little hollow
in northern Vermont, is our 42 acre farm. We’ve got acres and acres of open
fields, rows and rows of cultivated vegetable and flower gardens, 7 acres of woods,
including our sugar bush, some wetlands and random outcroppings of the granite
underlying it all. The farm is entirely surrounded by a rambling stone wall, built
long ago by a farmer wanting to clear his rocky land. For years the fields have
stood fallow. After many seasons of hunting the land, with permission from the
land owners, we were able to buy it from them in 2009. Since then we have been
laboring to reclaim its working character while also preserving much of the wildness
and nature that has come to inhabit it while it lay dormant. Our farm is just beginning,
but is growing year by year. For now we offer the best maple syrup made from the sap of
our maple trees and the purest Honey from our hives. Our daughter is growing beds of Flowers
for use in her floral design business. Come back often to see what farm products we have added.

ABOUT US: Sherman Hollow Farm was started by the two of us, Sue and Don Gilbert,
who were not yet ready for retirement and were wanting a second career in which
we could enjoy our love of Vermont and outdoor work. On the farm, Don
is the sugar maker, bee keeper and chief tractor operator and machinist. Sue
keeps the farm books, works on the marketing and selling of the products and tends the chickens. Our adult daughter, Maurine uses the land for her flower farm and floral design business.
